Well, last weekend I went to the DMZ as you may or may not have seen on my facebook account. After making out way through 3 different checkpoints where each time our tour bus was borded by Republic of Korea soldiers armed with M16s in order to check our passports to ensure there were no South Korean citizens on the bus (since they aren't allowed into the DMZ). Needless to say, I could feel the tension the entire time I was there. We were not allowed to make any gestures, point, faces, or any other subtle or non-subtle means of communications with the North Koreans, since it would counter the armstice agreement and could potentially be used at propaganda against the South.
We were then driven to a spot about 5 minutes east from the main point where we could overlook North Korea's Propaganda Village. You'll notice on the mountains in the North there are no trees on them since they've cut them all down for firewood.
