I'm a strong opponent of drinking and driving. I fully agree with firm penalties for those who are caught. But what is up with the R.I.D.E. program?
Recently, I read that so far this holiday season the OPP have stopped 484,000 drivers, but only charged 219 people (although others where given some tickets or suspensions).
This kind of mass 'stop and search without cause' program seems, well, almost illegal. I'm sure the Supreme Court would disagree. But shit, they are in essence harassing, or at least annoying, half a million people to catch 220.
C'mon, what kind of success rate is that?
Do you think its worth it?
