Bus Etiquette

Students in London, both young and old, need a refresher on how to behave on the bus. I just got off a totally packed bus, in which the person beside me had their bag on the seat the whole time, dispite the bus drivers orders for people to move back and make space. I guess it's partially my fault for not calling the guy on it, but should I really need to tell him that he's being inconsiderate?
Winnipeg Transit has this nice guide to bus behaviour. |

Lost Data
Posted By: Dan

Feb 26, 2005 - 1:49 PM

Dispite my best efforts no more data can be recovered from the old E-Filler. And, it turns out that none of the Saugeen photos from 2001-2002 were backed-up. I had these hosted at:
www.e-filler.ca/smhrc/
If anyone out there has a copy of the pictures that were there, please e-mail me!
Thanks. |

Major Failure

It's a good thing I was planning to replace E-Filler today. Last night the server suffered a major hard-drive failure. As a result, lots of data was lost!! Including (but not limited to) all the images from e-filler, all the OTHER websites hosted here, a few comments (which were new since the last backup) and a ton of other crap. I will do my best to recover what I can.
This machine will be on and offline for the next few hours while I piece things back together. Thanks for your patience...
UPDATE: Okay, looks like things are more or less back to normal. Only the last 3 months worth of images were lost. Most of the other stuff was backed up. The server 'upgrade' is also complete. Now instead of 300Mhz, it's 500MHz...w00t! |

Winnipeg

Well, I'm back from Winnipeg...and let me just say, they know COLD. It was -30 (with wind-chill) when I left this morning. I've never seen piles of snow so high. Apparently there is a place where they dump the snow collected from the city streets, and the pile is so high that it never fully melts. There is also a 15' high snow man in front of the Manitoba legislature, and of course, there's Golden Boy.
Here is me with that giant snow man:

Ant Cam

We may finally have a chance to find out on our own if ants can be trained to sort tiny screws in space...but only with the cooperation of Mike.
You see, Mike recently became the proud owner of an ant farm...and even more recently (ie. yesterday) became the proud owner of some ants to put in it. Alias, we cannot see it...unless, we placed a webcam on the ants, and posted the images on E-Filler.
All in favor? All opposed? |

Apparently 11AM this morning (EST) is the deadline before the NHL season is offically cancelled. Any thoughts? There will be a 1PM news conference to announce what's going to happen. |

Hahahahahaha
Allow me to bask in laughter as I give props to the Government of the United states of America for once again showing off the worst investment ever. We Canadians have already apologized for Celine Dion, so I find it difficult to understand why Americans havn't sent any condolences for pushing this crap on us! The shit doesn't even work!... Hahahaha Bitch!

American Dad

Did anyone watch the show 'American Dad' after The Simpsons last night? I must say, I was disappointed. I only watched half of the episode before I gave up and turned it off. It was basically a carbon-copy of Family Guy, though not as funny. What did everyone else think? |

SuperBowl Champions......Again!
Posted By: Pete

Last Sunday, the New England Patriots were victorious in SuperBowl XXXIX. Facing off against a well-deserved NFC Championship organization, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Patriots cemented their history as the dominant team of the early twenty first century.
Earlier in the week Freddie Mitchell, a sub-par, second string, wide receiver from the Eagles recieving corp said he had something for Patriot defensive player Rodney Harrison. Not so. It turns out that Rodney Harrison caught more passes from McNabb that Mitchell did. That has got to be embarrassing. Personally I think he should retire now and cement his legacy as a trash talking loser, but thats just me.
After the game, when asked what he thought of the victory, star running back Corey Dillon responded "It's a pleasure to play for the Pat's". That says it all.
With another successful season in the history books, the Patriots have clearly solidfied their position as the NFL's most dominant team. I think we can all agree now, The New England Patriots Plus Three Vince Lombardi Trophies in Four Years Equals the new NFL DYNASTY.
Although I'm merely a fan, I've gotta tell you "It's great to be a winner!"

CARE guy slams DART

From the CBC. I guess he might have a point about the money. NGOs might get more punch out of $20M than DART? On the other hand, NGOs don't have the kickass water purification machinery that DART does, do they? Take it with a grain of salt, though: I think relations between NGOs and militaries (GOs?) are always a little strained. |

Missile Shield and Troops to Iraq
Posted By: Dan

President Bush is expected to ask Paul Martin to send some troops to Iraq, and some tough questions about missile defense.
First off, they are thinking of sending 40 troops? This is obviously going to have no significant impact on things in Iraq and is more a test of good faith. Do you want our troops going there? (Even if it is only 40 men/women?)
Next, missile defense. I've said it before and I'll say it again...what a waste of money. Why would Canada want to invest in a system that is shown to NOT work?!?

Note: Each link is a different test
I hope Mr. Martin has the balls to say no to a bad idea. |

Goodbye Skydome

An icon of our childhood is changing forever. The Skydome is being renamed "The Rogers Center" (<SCARCASM>wow, that sounds awesome</SCARCASM>) and the JumboTron, once touted as the largest TV in the world, is being replaced. (In fact, according to that article it's already been taken down.)
20 years sure went by fast. |

Rage against anything

What's wrong with us today? Why is everyone so angry? This article (published today) in the Toronto Star about Parent Rage. Apparently parents bursting into schools and throwing tantrums is now "all the rage" (okay, bad joke). But seriously, hockey rage, road rage, parent rage? What's next??
