New Mayor

If you've never seen the segment on This Hour has 22 Minutes called Talking to Americans, then you're missing out. Here is a small segement that has Rick Mercer talking with Jerry Springer about the new mayor of Burlington, Jean Chretien. (Yes, the clip is a few years old, but funny none the less.)
CBC did a 1 hour Talking to Americans special a few years ago, you might be able to find a copy of it online. (*cough* limewire*cough*) |

Those crazy fans...

It looks like some hockey fans are upset that they're not involved with the negotiations between the players and the owners in the NHL. I have a question for said fans: WHAT CAN YOU BRING TO THE TABLE? Yeah, nothing...and until that changes, you shouldn't be surprised you're not welcome at the table.

Cat Stevens

So, what ever happened to Cat Stevens? Well, I'm glad you asked. It turns out, he converted to Islam in the 70s, and isn't allowed in the US anymore. Read more about it here. Is there more to this story? If not, then it sounds like if you're a politically active Muslim, you don't want to be travelling to the US any time soon... |

The New England Patriots won again yesterday to the Arizona Cardinals, at their home opener in Arizona. The Patriots organization now moves to a record of 17 straight victories, and is surely earning their rating of 99/100.
In other news, Green Bay is shit.

* GEEK POST ALERT *
I was reading an article on the Sun Microsystems website, and I couldn't help but laugh. A comment by one of Sun's engineers regarding their new ZFS file system:
"Populating 128-bit file systems would exceed the quantum limits of earth-based storage. You couldn't fill a 128-bit storage pool without boiling the oceans."
What is said is probably true...just give it a few years...

So some researchers over here at UWO have found that beer is as good for you as wine. I guess this makes Homer Simpson one step closer to being a spokesperson for personal health.
This article also got mentioned on Slashdot. |

Futurama Rumor

As I've posted before, I'm slightly obsessed with Futurama...and not heling the situation is the following rumor. Basically, the article says that Fox is considering bringing back the show, blah blah blah....the question is this: Has a TV network EVER brought back a show? I can't think of a time when this has happened.

US politics

While we're on the topic of US political commentary, I thought I'd post this piece of flash video. While popularized, it seems interesting. Apparently, who ever made this film challenges the accepted theory of what actually hit the Pentagon. Boeing 757, missile, or fighter jet? You be the judge.

Well folks, I'm heading back to London today. Since I won't have internet access until the middle of next week, I won't be posting anything! If you don't have my new phone number, MSN/ICQ me and I will send it to you.
See you later.
